What to Expect at a Coin Show

A coin show is a marketplace where dealers buy, sell, and trade coins, bullion, paper currency, and related collectibles. Small local shows can have a few dozen tables, while major conventions can fill large halls with hundreds of dealers.

Most events charge a modest admission fee, and many offer discounts for club members or youth. At the show, you can compare inventory across multiple tables, ask grading and authenticity questions, and collect buy offers from several dealers before making a decision.

If this is your first show, bring a short buying list, enough cash for your budget, and a way to quickly check pricing references while you walk the floor.

Coin Shows and Bullion Buying

Coin shows let you inspect products in person, compare multiple dealers in one place, and avoid shipping delays. You can improve your results by checking live market references before attending.

Before a show, review closest-to-spot gold, closest-to-spot silver, and current spot prices. Common show inventory includes American Silver Eagles, American Gold Eagles, and silver bars.

On-site, you can use the gold price per gram calculator and silver coin melt value calculator to compare asking prices against melt value and spot-driven estimates.
