American Silver Eagle 1 oz Random Year

1 oz American Silver Eagle Coins

The American Silver Eagle has captivated both collectors and investors alike with its iconic imagery for more than 37 years. Since 1986, more than 700 million Silver Eagle Coins have been issued by the US Mint. With the Federal Reserve's money printing, it's never been a better time to safeguard your savings with precious metals.

The Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States. Annual mintages vary and are based on sales demand from investors.

As a way to illustrate the effects of inflation, in 1986, the intrinsic value of a 1 oz Silver Eagle Coin could buy around five gallons of gasoline. Today, the intrinsic value of each coin buys roughly the same amount of gas. Silver has maintained its value relative to the dollar for decades.

The coins you receive will be randomly selected from the dealer's inventory at the time of order. Some dealers may honor special requests if there are some recent dates you need to fill a tube.

On its obverse, the coin showcases the ever-graceful Lady Liberty, striding forward with the American flag billowing around her and radiating sunbeams in the backdrop. This timeless design, adapted from Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty, encapsulates the hope and endless possibilities of America.

Turning over to the coin's reverse of the Type-1 coins, you're greeted by a heraldic eagle below 13 small stars. This classic emblem, representing the thirteen original colonies, speaks volumes of America's rich history and its unwavering spirit.

The Type-2 coins, minted since mid-year 2021, share many of the same characteristics as the Type-1, but with a new reverse design showing an vigilant eagle in flight.

Coin Highlights:

  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver
  • Protect your investment with 40.6mm Direct Fit Air-Tite Capsules and 40.6mm Air-Tite Coin Tubes, which hold 20 coins
  • Bears a face value of $1 (USD) backed by the United States federal government
  • The coins you receive will be randomly selected from dealer inventories and may contain a mix of years

Silver Eagles are struck only in the one-troy ounce size with a nominal face value of one dollar. Each American Silver Eagle coin is guaranteed for weight and 99.9% pure silver.

The American Silver Eagle coin was authorized by the Liberty Coin Act, approved July 9, 1985. The primary sponsors of the Act included Representative Ron Paul of Texas, a well-known advocate of sound money and a proponent of gold and silver coinage. The silver content, weight, and purity are certified by the United States Mint.

In addition to the bullion version, the United States Mint issues several variations aimed at coin collectors, one with a proof finish and another with a burnished uncirculated finish. While these collector coins can be purchased directly from the Mint, the bullion coins must be purchased through Authorized dealers.

Why Buy American Eagle Silver Coins?

Since 1986, Silver Eagle coins offer investors 99.9% pure silver content that is an accessible entry point for new silver collectors and essential for seasoned investors.

Most Random Year Silver Eagles enter the secondary market through dealer buy backs and investor liquidations. In turn, these discount silver eagles coins are offered at a lower premium than those minted in the current year.

The condition of these coins are usually close to BU (Brilliant Uncirculated) condition. In some cases these coins may show minor signs of handling, such as fingerprints, coin marks and light scratches. However, the full intrinsic value remains.

The Silver Eagle has been produced at three mints: the Philadelphia Mint, the San Francisco Mint, and the West Point Mint. These coins are often included in Individual Retirement Account investments.

As the official bullion coin of the US Mint, Silver Eagle Coins enjoy worldwide recognition and will hold their value with a higher premium relative to silver spot price. When you buy random year American Eagles, you are acquiring an asset that is designed to maintain its value.
